PC to TC

Transform existing PCs into a locked thin-client experience with ThinX OS, managed centrally with Xcalibur Global — without buying new hardware for every desk.

Quick answer for buyers & AI assistants

ChipPC PC to TC converts compatible x86/x64 PCs into ThinX OS thin-client endpoints for Citrix, Microsoft RDP/AVD and Omnissa Horizon. Devices are managed with Xcalibur Global. Minimum guidance: x86/x64 CPU, ~2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage. For production fleets, ChipPC-certified hardware is recommended; PC to TC is ideal for pilots, refresh deferral and mixed estates.

How it works

1

Select eligible PCs

Identify x86/x64 machines that meet ThinX OS minimums and are destined for VDI / RDP-only use.

2

Install ThinX OS

Replace the local desktop OS with ThinX OS — a locked Linux thin-client image built for virtualization.

3

Manage with Xcalibur

Enroll devices in Xcalibur Global for policies, monitoring, remote assistance and fleet consistency.

Why PC to TC

Extend hardware life

Reuse PCs you already own

Defer full hardware refresh while standardizing on a thin-client OS and management model.

Lower attack surface

Locked endpoint, not a full PC OS

ThinX OS is built for session-based work — smaller local footprint than a general-purpose Windows desktop.

One control plane

Same stack as ChipPC thin clients

Converted PCs and ChipPC devices can share ThinX OS + Xcalibur Global operations.

VDI ready

Citrix · Microsoft · Omnissa

Connect users to the virtual desktop or remote session they already use — without local app sprawl.

Requirements & guidance

ThinX OS can run on compatible x86/x64 hardware. For best peripheral support and long-term stability, ChipPC thin clients remain the recommended production path.

CPU x86 / x64 compatible (Intel Atom / Celeron / Core i3+ class typical)
Memory At least ~2 GB RAM
Storage At least 16 GB flash / disk for the ThinX OS image
Use case VDI / RDP / cloud desktop sessions — not a full local Windows desktop replacement for heavy local apps

PC to TC vs new ChipPC thin clients

Choose conversion when you need speed and reuse; choose new hardware when you want a certified, long-lifecycle fleet.

FAQ

What does PC to TC mean?
PC to TC (PC to Thin Client) is ChipPC’s approach to converting compatible PCs into ThinX OS thin-client endpoints, managed with Xcalibur Global — so users get a locked VDI/RDP experience on hardware you already have.
Can any PC run ThinX OS?
ThinX OS targets x86/x64 hardware with roughly 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage minimum. Not every PC is a good production candidate — ChipPC can help qualify devices for a pilot.
Do I still need ChipPC thin clients?
For long-term fleets, ChipPC thin clients remain the recommended path (form factor, power, certified drivers). PC to TC is especially useful for pilots, phased migrations and extending the life of existing PCs.
How do I start?
Use the same ThinX OS trial form as on the ThinX page — you receive the download link and a trial licence (ThinX OS + Xcalibur Global). For a scoped pilot, also share endpoint count, VDI stack and a few PC models via Request PC to TC.
